so over the weekend me and peter took a trip to our nation's capital. we had lots of fun, met up with some (not all) the people we know down there....you know what happens when you're sightseeing in blistering HOT weather, you get really tired at the end of the day, and forget to call people or just don't have the energy. oy!

well, we left hoboken at 5 in the AM on thursday and headed down to annapolis, md. what a cute little place! we took in the state house and the naval academy. and had lunch by the docks

we then moved on to DC and had some drinks with our good friend jenn...and she brought out a bunch of conservative DC lawyers for us to drink with....what an odd mix!

then on friday...what a day!!! first we went to the WWII and the FDR memorials - both of which i've never seen.

then we headed off the the national zoo to see.....

THE PANDA!!! i watched him for a little bit. he played with his mommy. and then we walked around the zoo a little more. after the zoo, we loaded up on carbs so we could go kayaking in the potomac (pictures to come later) which was WAY cool. it hurt my shoulders, but luckily peter is in much better shape than i am so he could paddle more and let me take in the view of roosevelt island, the lincoln memorial, kennedy center and some really cool wildlife. we met up with some of my high school friend both before and after the kayaking, which was cool. since i haven't seen them in YEARS!

saturday we found ourselves at the international spy musuem...way cool, but there were a ton of people there. then we headed off to see ford's theater....

and then onto the national portrait gallery. let me tell you, that was one nice museum. it was recently redone, but i can't tell you what was done to it. there you can see all the famous presidential portraits...including the ugliest portrait of bill clinton. it's henious. you can also see the gilbert stuart washington portraits. and even the portrait used for ben franklin's new look on the $100 bill. they even had some modern american art which was also cool. and a neat ehxibit on american folk art...including an alter and assorted icons made out of tinfoil!

then we went out and had dinner and completely crashed!!!

on sunday we stopped by baltimore for a quick lunch and to walk around the inner harbor and then we went on the road home.

it was a fun weekend, and i wish it were longer, cuz there is so much we missed!!!!
