there is really nothing as exciting as cleaning out your closets and being able to let some of those clothes go. it was hard, but i kept telling myself that if i didn't wear it at all this past year, i'm not gonna wear it again. so the clothes that were too ratty to wear went in the trash, and now i have two shopping bags filled with clothes and shoes to send off to some deserving perosn.

but to counteract my satisfied feeling, i decided that with nothing to lose i should take the online jeopardy test. i answered some correctly (those are the ones i TOTALLY knew) and i took a guess at more than a few. and sadly i had to leave some blank...i mean what do i know about the nervous system...NOTHING!

so we'll see if jeopardy comes a knockin' on my door. i doubt it. but it was fun

i hate my job!!

i know this is nothing new. i know you've all heard this before. but i really just need to let it out. i don't know if it's because i see my 20s in the rear view mirror, and or the idea that i graduated high school 10 years ago. or just the mere fact that in my late 20s i should be working at a better paying job than the one i'm at. if i have one regret so far in my life is the day i answered my old boss when she asked if i wanted to be hired full time at my office. the lure of a secure paying job with benefits clouded my judgement, and now i'm stuck. i need to leave that place. it's sucking the life out of me. and it's not even making mu pockets that much richer.

but the idea of having no job and no health insurance scares the bejeebez out of me.

what is a girl to do????

NEW YORK, NEW YORK it's a wonderful town......

ellen and i took a trip to a place neither of us have ever been in nyc...to the cloisters! for those of you that are wondering what on earth that is, well in the 1930s john d. rockefeller decided that he wanted to bring pieces of medieval art and architecture to nyc - so he built a kind of monastery looking building to house all these artifacts and gave the building to the Met. so after perusing the fine medieval arts that are housed there, els and i decided to go someplace else we've never been.....GRANT'S TOMB!!!

if you've never been to see grant's tomb - i highly recommend it. it is really gorgeous. and according to the sign, it's north america's largest mausoleum. very impressive. and i bet in the spring and summer when the surrounding gardens are in bloom, it's even more gorgeous.

and as ellen i were standing there, across the street was Riverside Church - so of course we went in. what a lovely place. the stained glass in the main church is breathtaking. and the organist was practicing while we were there, so that rocked.

then ellen and i got back in the car and drove down to the metropolitan museum of art. we had some lunch in the lovely new cafeteria. then we took a guided tour of the modern art collection. i always suggest taking a tour of a collection when going to museum that has so much like this one - it's much easier to manage and you'll really get to see something rather than breezing through and not really seeing anything. and i got to see one of my favorite jackson Pollock works - that always makes me smile

last night i saw one fantastic show....THE STROKES at Hammerstein Ballroom.

not only were julian's vocals supurb, nick and albert's guitars were on fire! these guys are better live than their studio work...which i think is rare. even when everyone was singing along you could only hear the band...amazing!!! i do think the most interesting thing about this band is even though they enjoy tremendous success, they're still these 5 shy guys on stage. i say this, because for a good portion of the shows, the stage is backlit and they play in shadows, hiding just how fabulous they are. they played a healthy mix of all their albums, which was awesome. and now i think i'm totally in love with the bass player, nikolai. for the entire show he didn't move more than 2 steps from his position, he never broke a sweat and his hair was neatly in place!! he really is the coolest.

and i do wonder if julian's voice is that raspy in person. i hope so. that would be sweet!

so thanks to peter for taking me to see the strokes. it was a fantastic night, and you should get out to see them!!!
