how can mtv still put on the music video awards, when it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE to find a video on at any hour???

it's kind of like that chicken and the egg thing, isn't it?

holy crap it's hot outside!!!! the weather people say another heat wave is headed our way, and we'll be in the 90's most of the week. yikes!

on top of the heat, poor peter is really sick. he finally broke his fever the other day, and now he's on anti-biotics, which ironically, i'm allergic to!! (it really is punishment since i was the one to get him sick in the first place)

but in the good news category, i am continuing to work normal working people's hours for the forseeable future - yay!! and the other day my exec prod discovered i can use a final cut, so now i'm now even more in like flynn around the higher ups. but do not believe that this new found freedom at the office makes me want to stay there. in fact it's quite the opposite, i'm more motivated to leave, whenever i can get a new job. but i'm still on the hunt!!!!

and let me use this space to give a shout out to russ and tara on their 1st anniversary. i hope canada was fun!

i know the question on the tip of your tongue is "funk, how's the show going?" well i'll tell ya this. it's going. because the host of our show, michael strahan of the ny giants, is actually busy this fall (shocking, right) we can only secure one date for shooting with him until the end of the season. so we've slated a shoot date for sometime in september, and we will be creating a 1 hour special to "kick off" (no pun intended) the series. in this one hour special, we'll be making two projects in one person's backyard...what a lucky family!! this is actually a break for us. we wanted to be able to do a really good show, and the producers and i thought that we could put together something better if we had more time. we tried in earnest to see if we could get another host, but contracts were signed blah, blah, blah. it's not that strahan is awful, on the contrary he's a really nice person. but the fact that we have to work around his schedule and not our own kind of stinks. i know i was hoping that we'd get filming this fall and have the winter and early spring to cut the show. oh well. ain't tv great!

on a side note - idiots of the world were driving out and about today. i almost got hit like 3 time by jerks who liked to drift around in their lanes! i hate other drivers.

ps - mupster, next time i follow you home, i'll totally lean on the horn til you turn around!

here's one of my favs from the national zoo.....

and to prove that peter was actually there with me....

Monday, July 17, 2006

so over the weekend me and peter took a trip to our nation's capital. we had lots of fun, met up with some (not all) the people we know down there....you know what happens when you're sightseeing in blistering HOT weather, you get really tired at the end of the day, and forget to call people or just don't have the energy. oy!

well, we left hoboken at 5 in the AM on thursday and headed down to annapolis, md. what a cute little place! we took in the state house and the naval academy. and had lunch by the docks

we then moved on to DC and had some drinks with our good friend jenn...and she brought out a bunch of conservative DC lawyers for us to drink with....what an odd mix!

then on friday...what a day!!! first we went to the WWII and the FDR memorials - both of which i've never seen.

then we headed off the the national zoo to see.....

THE PANDA!!! i watched him for a little bit. he played with his mommy. and then we walked around the zoo a little more. after the zoo, we loaded up on carbs so we could go kayaking in the potomac (pictures to come later) which was WAY cool. it hurt my shoulders, but luckily peter is in much better shape than i am so he could paddle more and let me take in the view of roosevelt island, the lincoln memorial, kennedy center and some really cool wildlife. we met up with some of my high school friend both before and after the kayaking, which was cool. since i haven't seen them in YEARS!

saturday we found ourselves at the international spy musuem...way cool, but there were a ton of people there. then we headed off to see ford's theater....

and then onto the national portrait gallery. let me tell you, that was one nice museum. it was recently redone, but i can't tell you what was done to it. there you can see all the famous presidential portraits...including the ugliest portrait of bill clinton. it's henious. you can also see the gilbert stuart washington portraits. and even the portrait used for ben franklin's new look on the $100 bill. they even had some modern american art which was also cool. and a neat ehxibit on american folk art...including an alter and assorted icons made out of tinfoil!

then we went out and had dinner and completely crashed!!!

on sunday we stopped by baltimore for a quick lunch and to walk around the inner harbor and then we went on the road home.

it was a fun weekend, and i wish it were longer, cuz there is so much we missed!!!!

this weekend i took the b.f. to yet another family gathering. this time it was my cousin's son's (or as i like to call him, my 'nephew') christening. the worst part...church was at 930 AM!!! who makes church services that early during the summer??? that was nuts. but the party was fun. we ate, drank and put on our play clothes to take part in volleyball. it was a good gathering all around, and peter survived it all!!

back to sitting at my desk trying to look busy......

i know you're thinking...wow, funk must be SO busy working those daytime hours she doesn't even have time to chat. we'll you're right about one thing. i am working during the day, but i don't have much to chat about. 4th of july came and went, i didn't do much. had some people over to try and watch fireworks from my roof. i was a bit disappointed in the macy's fireworks. but then again, i think once you reach a certain age and don't have kids, fireworks kind of loose some of that panche, so to speak. but at least the picture are cool..
