wow - what a night!!! the wonderful miss els scored 2 tickets to a night with.....BILLY JOEL!!! how exciting! he was at the 92 st Y (which for those of you who aren't up with your NYC high society, this ain't your grandma's Y. only the richest of the richest on the upper east side can get into this Y. in fact, to get your kid into their pre-school program, you have to either buy your way into it, or, now this is just speculation - but i think you'd have to put your unfertilized eggs on the waiting list...but enough about the Y)

so there was a crappy host - some jerk from rolling stone who god only knows how he got a job as a writer/interviewer - he was the worst. anyway, billy was funny, telling stories of how he writes, where he got some inspiration from, what artists he likes to try and imitate and then he opened it up to the floor for some q & a.

the best part was not the questions, but every so often he would play songs. he played some goodies. he stayed away from his bigger hits. we heard a little rosalinda's eyes, scandinavian skies, laura...and to make a few people i know VERY JEALOUS we heard Vienna AND Summer Highland Falls.

all in all, it was a great night. and i thank els deeply for the lovely time and for thinking that i would enjoy it! and if billy is making an appearance at your local Y, check him out!

my aunt was quite surprised for her birthday. she had no idea it was coming. and let me tell you - the house we had the party at was GI-NORMOUS. i know people in central jersey have massive homes they've built on farms - but this house was crazy. it has 3 - that's right 3 - livingrooms. that's crazy. how can you possibly use all of them. and their kitchen has a turret. a TURRET! people have way too much money. one day i'd like to have a turret.

the editorial staff of this fair blog hopes you had a fantastic thanksgiving. we hope is was filled with lots of food, drinks and good times no matter what you were doing or whom you were with. the staff here had a quiet day. went to work and came home to some pumpkin cheesecake a roommate had made for her and her boyfriend, ian, who is visiting from good ole londontown. he got to experience his first thanksgiving - always a fun time. my brother, on the other hand, had a wacky turkey day. he was cleaning up the turkey and he wound up slicing his knuckle. he had to go to the hopsital and get 5 stiches - he was casualty #2 that day in the ER. and while he was away, my dad was cleaning up, and the shelves in my brother's glass cabinet came tumbling down. glad i didn't go on this trip. who knows what would've happened to me!

this afternoon i shall be attending a suprise birthday party for my aunt. she keeps begging for a party and thinks that no one is giving her one. so hopefully this will be a good suprise.

and finally, the boy finished moving and he is now 8 blocks away from me - not bad, considering he used to be 30 MILES from me. so now maybe we'll get to see each other a bit more often. that's always good.

gobble, gobble

when will the universe stop punishing me??? i took my car - newly repaired - in for some servicing, and my poor thing had to get his brakes replaced!! apparently i'm hard on the brakes, and only had about another 1,000 miles left before i completely destoyed them. as soon as i get a few extra $$ in my pocket, things break. the world hates me.

so this weekend i brought the boyfriend to a family gathering. i think things went ok - i mean, i do have great taste in people, so how could anyone not like the boyfriend! he didn't get to spend too much time with my parents as my dad was feeling under the weather, and they left early. so i think that was kind of a good thing?? the rest of my family did get to talk with the boy, so they can spread the good word about him - which i'm sure they will.

other than that, the weekend was kind of boring. what are you doing for thanksgiving?? i'm shipping my parents off to boston to have dinner with their married child while i slave away at work trying ti recoup the cash i spent to fix the car. lucky me! (i will be done when the cowboy game is over - so if you can save me some pie and cranberry sauce, i'll be right over)

ps - i have now changed settings so you no longer need to be a registered user to leave a comment!

so i finally got my car back and he is better than ever. AND he got all patched up for $100 less than the estimate. he also got washed and vacuumed, which made me all happy.

last night i went out and had a few drinks with one of my co-workers whom i adore! so that was great. and i sent out my resume to yet another company. let's see how that goes.

and let's all take a moment to pray for me this weekend. the boy is meeting the family. 'nuff said

ok - did you happen to catch the duke/boston u basketball game on monday? i did! and even though my boys didn't win, we covered the spread, held duke to 64 points and only lost by 17!! we're the best.

yesterday, yours truly got a hair cut. it' s nice and short. it's defintely a cut that is more me. and when it grows out just a bit it will look awesome! yay me! another reason to celebrate, last night for dinner i made cornish game hens for me and peter. and they turned out GREAT! (i mean, so far neither of us have died or have felt any ill effects from those little birds) so i'm very proud of myself.

and will it EVER get cold?? for goodness sake it's the middle of november and it's 71 degrees outside. that's crazy! yay global warming

oh - and a funny picture of day...yesterday i was walking up broadway around lunchtime. and there was a bar that was kind of in the basement of a building. they had a window that is really on street level. and there was one man at the bar, sitting alone, and hit BUTT CRACK was showing all. everyone that walked by had to laugh. i wish i had a camera :(

you know, sometimes i wonder why i even talk to some people i'm friends with. as per the conversation at texas arizona last night (i''ve changed the names to make this story better, and summerized for your convienence)

prick: "cheryl - i really think hot pete is WAY more attractive than you"

me: "what on EARTH are you talking about??"

prick: "well, like on a scale of 1 to 10, he's DEFINTELY higher that you. I mean it's good that you're dating above your station"

me: "so you're calling me unattractive? thanks alot. that's real friendly of you"

prick: "well, i wouldn't say it if it wasn't true"

me: "you're an asshole"

at what point in life do you become a bit of a loser??? is it not going out to have a few drinks because you just don't have any cash to go? or is it when you just don't want to go?

nothing is better than having all my clothes clean. the washing machine is one of the great inventions. the one thing i hate about the coming winter months is that at my office i get stuck with 7 and 10 pm games that seem to like to go past any normal time. i hate coming home at 2 am. it blows

so this weekend commenced the first ever "i hate cheryl" weekend. let me explain:

friday afternoon i go outside to jump into my car so i can do a little errand run. i walk towards my car and to my HORROR i have been side swiped. my front end panel over the driver's side tire is completey smashed in and there is a hole in my driver's door. luckily my side mirror was untouched - thanks in part to the fact that i turn in my mirrors when i park on narrow streets. i went to the police station to fill out a police report. i don't think anything will come of it - but i's there for insurance purposes. my car drives fine and there doesn't seem to be any electrical problems - but it's still gonna cost me money that i don't have lots of.

then i went to work friday night. i was editing and i had to cut a 10:30 nba game. which went into OVERTIME and didn't get done til 1:30 AM. then i had to rush home so i could go to sleep so i could get up at 6 am so i could go proctor the SAT (gosh, what i won't do for extra cash -esp. in light of what has happened to my car) and then i put in a good 10 hours or so at my office. THEN i had to get up at 7 am on sunday so i could be at work to watch the NYC marathon. but on the bright side, i was done at work by 4 and i got to watch the giants game in the luxury of my own home - and they won. yay!!!

so hopefully monday starts the "cheryl i'm sorry for the crappy weekend" week. it all gets kicked off with a job interview at 4 today - so lets keep those fingers crossed and hope that this will be the start of something better!!
