I Dance Like the Italian Women: December 2006

well ladies and germs, it's the end of another year! it's been one interesting one for me, to say the least. but i'm not here to recount my year (that can be done by rereading my posts!!!) i want to pass along good thoughts and wishes for all of you. none of us know what tomorrow will bring, so i hope for you, tomorrow is better than today!!!

though i have done something for myself. i joined the hoboken ymca!! that's right people, i can get myself clean, i can have a good meal, i can do whatever i feel....well, i feel like take classes in yoga, pilates, some other classes and swimming. and maybe one day i'll cross the border into the actual gym - but i don't know. we'll see how things go!

so, whatever your plans are for tonight, i will raise my glass and think of you, please do the same!

so last night i had the craziest dream!! i dreamt that i was hanging out with george clooney!! we had first met the "night" before at a charity event or something like that, where i knew a family member of his, and clooney sat at my table. he passed me his phone number and said "call me later" and of course, i did!!! then we went back and hung out at some sort of hotel/villa (i'm still not quite sure) and there were more famous people there....matthew mcconaughey, salma hayek and jay-z (what a collection!!) and they were all bummed that george had to give up his place at the ritz-carleton in paris because it was becoming too expensive to keep. but we all partied till we couldn't party no more!! then in the morning i woke and started emptying the dishwasher. then i woke up.

the oddest thing is that i don't really find clooney all that attractive!! i mean, he's not on my top favs list. and i CERTAINLY don't care for matthew mcconaughey OR selma hayek. meeting jay-z would be fun though!!!

hope santa brought you dear readers everything you wanted!!! he certainly brought me one crazy dream!!!

disastor!! disastor!!

on my way home tonight, happily listening to the radio, sitting in a wee bit of traffice i heard the most horrible news!!!!! the radio program i LOVE to listen to said that now they will be ending an hour earlier (6pm) and i get stuck with some crappy show!! how will i EVER make it home?? i love to listen to them while i'm stuck in traffic. i hate radio programmers.

this blows!

today the most amazing thing happened on my way home from work. it was something so rare, and so exciting that it must be because it's the christmas season (which would be hard to tell around here since it's been in the 60's all day!!). what was my little christmas miracle....

i didn't hit ANY traffic on my way home from work!!! it took me less than 20 minutes to make it home. for all of you who have driven the roads on NJ during rush hour, especially going towards any tunnel that leads you to nyc, know what it's generally like. i breezed down rte 3, didn't even stop for a traffic light on route 1. and made it through union city lickty split!

what a great afternoon

the mystery has been solved, i finally know what i'm allergic to, and sadly, it's not black rubber. it's....(drumroll)

NOTHING!! that's right people, i'm allergic to absolutely nothing. after two days of my skin reexposed to oxygen, what looked like could be an allergy turned into NOTHING. i do feel kind of let down, since this has consumed my life all week. but on the bright side, it's cool not to be allergic to one's own makeup.

and here's a tip straight from the DR. if you get new makeup, espcially if you're switching brands, test a little on the inside of your arm, where your elbow is - it's the most like the skin on your face. place a little sample, and after 48 hours, if there's no reaction, you're good to go!! and ladies, my aunt told me this, that if you buy your makeup at CVS and you don't like it, you can return it even if it's open. that rocks!

this morning, i made a trip to my dermatologist to undergo some allergy testing. i know, most people go to some ear, nose and throat guy, not me! why, because i may be allergic to my EYESHADOW! how silly is that??

so i now have three different patches on my back. two that contain common allergens, and a third that contains samples of my makeup. i feel as if i've got giant band-aids on my back. and i can't get them wet - so try not to stand down wind of me!! i get to take these off on wednesday morning, and all shall be revealed.

a funny thing happened on the PATH (i mean mcadoo) tonight.

i was headed into the city to go to a gallery/bar to see some photos taken by my old high school social studies teacher - if that's not crazy enough. BUT on my way in to the city, there were two guys headed to the ranger game - my keen observance of their ranger jerseys and their debating about how to get to the garden. on my way home, i stepped into the path andthere those two same boys on their way back to the 'boken!!

sometimes life is nuts.

some things that have been on my mind/things i've done lately;

1. saw "the good german" and i recommend it! it's the new george clooney, steven soderbergh movie. the story moves and keeps you guessing. it's certainly not the best movie ever made, but you will find it very entertaining. but be warned, it is in black and white.

2. who are the other people with my name?? well, here they are.....

i'm a cyclist

i'm a potter

i'm a relator

and i'm a college admission counselor.

and not ONE of them have red hair! who knew!

3. why, when waiting on very, very, very long lines do people not make MORE LINES? why do the wait and then "branch off" to the open register. wouldn't it make more sense just to form two SEPERATE lines? is that too much to ask???
